This is a job for a Materials Manager position with a company located in the Horn Lake, MS area.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Administratively responsible for materials support services including inventory, distribution, shipping, receiving, scheduling, final assembly of products, purchasing, and aftermarket. Also, responsible for master scheduling and ensuring comprehensive compliance with materials requirement for manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position reports to the VP of Manufacturing. Reporting to this position are the purchasing manager, inventory coordinator, and internal logistics supervisors. This position is responsible for overseeing the following functions: shipping and receiving, inventory and warehouse functions, and purchasing and scheduling. Responsible for planning and implement activities related to material purchasing, material control, inventory control, logistics and shipping/receiving functions, both strategically and operationally. Works with the VP of Manufacturing to assist in the preparation and recommendation of strategic planning. Monitors and proactively responds to materials, scheduling, and inventory related issues. Participates with other managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on purchasing and inventory operational matters. Reviews reports and provides explanations for variance to management group, including executive and management group. Routinely interacts with executive and major customers. Manages the budget and is the final decision maker on major contract negotiations. Must be an effective communicator with the ability to multitask. Evaluates performance with focus on performance management to build an effective team.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree and minimum 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a manufacturing environment. The individual must be well organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Lotus, Microsoft Office, JDEdwards and AS400 is desired. Basic understanding of Excel including charts, graphs, and data analysis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
