Robert Half is reviewing candidates for a renowned services company for an ambitious, determined Controller. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. You will join the leadership team in supporting the generation of innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenging the status quo, and fostering creativity in your department. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Houston, Texas region.

How you will make an impact

• Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

• Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

• Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

• Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

• Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

• Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

• Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

• Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

• Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

• Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities

• Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

• CPA/MBA preferred

• Experience leading the Month end close process

• Non-Profit accounting

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

• Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
