Our client, a prestigious oil & gas company based in downtown Houston, is currently seeking a highly qualified Revenue Accountant with superior Excel skills. The ideal candidate should have experience working in the industry and be able to commit to this 100% onsite position.

Job Overview:

The Revenue Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of revenue recognition, including but not limited to, ensuring accurate recording of revenues, compliance with revenue recognition standards, and verification of transactional data. This role will also provide critical support for various accounting functions, contribute to the monthly accounting close, and work on special projects as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and record revenue entries for oil and gas sales.

  2. Review and analyze contracts to ensure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with industry standards and company policy.

  3. Reconcile and resolve any discrepancies in revenue accounts.

  4. Interface with Sales, Operations and Finance teams to ensure accurate transaction processing.

  5. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarter and annual reporting including variance analysis, audit schedules, and other reporting requirements.

  6. Work closely with the IT team to utilize systems for the streamlining and automation of revenues accounting.

    Requirements

Job Requirements:

  1. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in revenue accounting, preferably in the oil and gas industry.

  3. Expert knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, macros, and complex formulas.

  4. Solid understanding of GAAP, with emphasis on revenue recognition principles.

  5. Experience with accounting software systems; experience with an oil and gas specific system is a plus.

  6. Exceptional communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.

  7. Ability to work effectively in a high-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
