Based out of the Electrical Division Airport (EDA) location, the Senior Assembler will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Switchgear Assembly department. The Assembler will be responsible for the Assembly of electrical units, switchgear, and other Powell products.

Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Assembles units or sub-assemblies according to prints and work instructions. Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws. Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications. Verifies completeness, accuracy and compliance to work instructions.

• Assemble assigned product parts in accordance with established standards and production guidelines.

• Perform spot checks of products to ensure adherence to approved quality standards.

• Notify supervisor of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.

• Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.

• Clean and maintain work area.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED.

• 2+ years of relevant manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience.

• Basic product knowledge (understanding of how work ties into the larger picture) based on departmental

need/requirement.

• Must be detail oriented and prior assembly experience helpful.

• Previous experience in rollout is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret English as related to documents such as safety rules, material specification drawings, work instructions/procedures, bill of material, tape measure and blueprints.

• Ability to operate a variety of assembly fixtures and hand and power equipment in a safely.

• Ability to recognize defective parts and notify supervisor.

• Ability to perform simple arithmetic, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

• Ability to read a tape measure

• Communicate with operators from other shifts.

• Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with those contacted in course of work; in person and through phone contact.

• Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.

• Ability to lift 21-50 pounds consistently.

• Knowledge of air tools

• Basic mechanical knowledge

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with constant exposure to the elements of our shop. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety shoes/boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

− Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.

− Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.

− Perceiving size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with the fingertips.

− Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and walk continuously throughout an 8 hour work day.

− Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
