Chevron is accepting online applications for the Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer position through June 1st, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (CT).

The Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer works within the Chevron Technical Center (Chevron’s central engineering function) and supports the Chevron enterprise (upstream/downstream/midstream), facility engineers, operations, and project teams.  This role is responsible for providing expert level technical recommendations and guidance related to pipeline integrity management, pipeline inspections, pipeline integrity assessments and engineering critical assessments to the Chevron enterprise.  Supports advances in technology development in pipeline integrity & inspections.   

Occasional travel (5-15%) is required both domestically and internationally (including on occasion multi-week trips). 

Requires individuals with strong initiative and able to effectively handle multiple assignments for different operations business partners simultaneously, set realistic goals, and complete commitments on schedule and within budget.  Strong team player with proven experience in partnering and mentoring.   

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:  

  • Provides expert level technical recommendations and guidance to the Chevron enterprise related to pipeline integrity management, pipeline inspections, pipeline integrity assessments and engineering critical assessments.  

  • Performs ILI data evaluations, reviews anomaly validations, evaluates pipeline defects and recommends repairs of defects.  

  • Develops and provides technical oversight of ILI tool qualifications plans.  

  • Provides training to the Chevron enterprise in pipeline integrity and pipeline inspection technology (Inline Inspection and non-intrusive inspection technology).    

  • Initiates and manages through deployment, R&D projects that advance development in pipeline inspection technology while tailoring to the needs of Chevron business units.  

  • Provides requested technical advice and recommendations to project teams within required time frames .  

  • Reviews site pipeline integrity programs.  

      Required Qualifications:  

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or greater in an engineering discipline is required (mechanical, civil, metallurgical, electrical, or chemical).   

  • A minimum of 12 years experience within the pipeline industry with at least 8 years demonstratable experience in a pipeline integrity engineering role.    

  • Role requires strong analytical skills and knowledge in pipeline regulations, pipeline inspection technology (Inline Inspection and non-intrusive inspection technology), pipeline corrosion management, pipeline repair and integrity programs.  

  • Thorough knowledge of Regulatory and Industry requirements in Pipeline Integrity, CFR Part 195 and 192, OSHA, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8 and B16.5, API 1160, ASME B31.8S, API 1163, DNV, and AAMP Codes and Standard.

  • Communication - Strong written and verbal communication skills required . Able to make effective and convincing presentations to a wide range of management, technical, and non-technical levels in business partner's organizations world-wide in terms they clearly understand.  

  • Leadership and Ability to Work Independently - A demonstrated history of leadership behaviors ( e.g. meeting business partner's expectations while handling multiple critical tasks) with minimal supervision is required .  Demonstrated ability to maintain frequent, proactive, and effective contact with business partners and key stakeholders is required .  

      Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Preference given to candidates with experience in facilities supporting or managing pipeline integrity programs.  

  • Strong understanding of pipeline operations, maintenance, process safety and risk assessments.
