Position Description Summary

APT Research is hiring a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to support our commercial space operations contract. This position is in Houston, TX with hybrid work flexibility.

Responsibilities include:

· Provide technical expertise in software quality assurance to program for life cycle milestones.

· Provide software assurance assessments for program software items (newly developed, COTS, Firmware, etc.).

· Participate in cross-functional teams conducting software quality evaluations, audits and assessments. Activities could include providing on-site verification and auditing at Developer facilities to ensure that robust controls are in place for quality assurance practices.

· Participate and provide input for Software Review Boards, failure investigations and failure review boards.

· Track quality assurance metrics, such as defect densities and open defect counts.

· Participate in assessments, tests, or technical interchange meetings to assess processes and practices for compliance with software quality assurance strategies, policies, and standards. Report results. Activities could include providing on-site verification and auditing at Developer facilities to ensure that robust controls are in place for quality assurance practices.

· Participate in technical meetings and independent software code reviews for software (including but not limited to agile/iterative) development efforts to assess compliance program software quality assurance standards and best practices. Report results.

· Assess software (including but not limited to agile/iterative software development model) quality assurance to include requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment activities.

· Provide weekly status reports on activities and issues of concern.

· Travel periodically, as required.

Required Experience/Education :

· Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, or related with a minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering field or a Masters with 10 years or related experience.

· Acceptable substitute to above requirement: 10 years of experience in a software field.

· Experience leading and executing extensive software quality engineering support efforts for system elements, interfacing systems, components, devices and/or processes.

· Experience with software quality processes and products from requirements phase through testing.

Security Clearance Requirement:

· Must be able to obtain a secret clearance if required

· Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers

· Must have reliable internet and phone service

Travel Requirements :

· Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <15%

Physical Requirements :

· Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk

· Ability to lift >15 lbs.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement

· Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
