Description
Join our client, an emerging technology company, as a driven Staff Accountant, and be at the forefront of building out their accounting operations in Houston and oversee and support their Fixed Assets Accounting function.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Will support all accounting activities through month end close with a focus on overseeing the fixed assets managing financial statements for the consolidated company and subsidiaries.
Maintain fixed asset records including additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation for multiple companies with multiple ledgers covering GAAP, Regulatory and Tax.
Perform roll forward, variance analysis, reporting and other close out tasks.
Perform ongoing reporting and analysis, including monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting of capital expenditures.
Assist in the development of processes/procedures as the company continues to grow.
Contribute to enhancing functionality in the new ERP system through report building.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
CPA certification preferred.
2+ years of experience in a Fixed Assets Accounting role.
High energy with a drive for promotion within the organization.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
Proficiency in ERP systems, ideally NetSuite, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
Ready to make a significant impact on our finance team and play a crucial role
Requirements
Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
2+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Must have excellent time management skills
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Month-end Close Activities experience
Knowledge of financial reporting
Proven knowledge of CPA Eligible
Consolidation Processes experience
Microsoft Excel experience
General familiarity with University Degree
NetSuite experience
Well-founded grasp of Current CPA License
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus
Experience with ERP systems
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
