Robert Half Staff Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description Robert Half has an opportunity for you to become a critical part of an innovative company, as a full-time Staff Accountant. To flourish in this role, candidates will need to be highly capable of handling a challenging work environment with many components. In this Staff Accountant role, it will be critical for you to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate for this position can perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. Key responsibilities

  • Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested

  • Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

  • Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Coordinate and analyze a variety of financial data, then report it in a way that is useful and understandable

  • Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting combined with 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience preferably in public accounting or a high volume manufacturing environment.

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • ERP system experience, Infor LN Manufacturing or OneStream a huge plus!

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger

  • Adeptness in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Balance Sheet Account experience

  • Expertise in month end closings

  • Strong familiarity with journal entries

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
