MD Anderson Cancer Center Teacher - Pediatrics School in Houston, Texas

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The Teacher - Pediatrics School will coordinate and deliver Pediatric Education and Creative Arts programming.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Classroom Instruction Design educational activities: Navigate and customize specialized academic pacing guide for individual students within online curriculum systems. Design and deliver curriculum and educational material in pediatric classroom, bedside and other settings. Maintain a positive classroom culture for learning and collaboration among stakeholders. Manage various ages, grade levels, and abilities within an open concept classroom. Monitor and track student mastery. Leverage blended curriculum and instructional resource tools to support student growth. Project a welcoming environment for reluctant students. Deploy appropriate RTI strategies.

Student Assessment and Engagement: Develop and implement educational assessments for technology-based and hands-on delivery. Determine student achievement at a variety of assessment levels. Assess student performance in a variety of settings. Advocate for appropriate accommodations and modifications. Maintain up to date and accurate student enrollment documentation, attendance information and performance data to guide decision making.

Collaborate with Educational Stakeholders: In collaboration with the entire Pediatric Education and Creative Arts team, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders, assist in the educational planning and interventions for student learners. Develop professional rapport and maintain regular communication with parents and other stakeholders to promote academic achievement and student well-being.

Utilizes Appropriate Technology: Utilizes appropriate technology to provide instruction, document student progress, generate student and programmatic reports related to school programs. Facilitate the flow of student username credentials for instructional resources. Expands instructional and academic experience of patients by leveraging robust technology platforms.

School Events and Other Duties: Plan and assist with school specific special events and related activities. Perform other duties as assigned, necessary and appropriate.

Education

Required :Master's degree in Education.

Experience

Required : Three years teaching experience to include experience in interpreting neuropsychological test batteries.

Preferred :

  • Fluent in utilizing online curriculum systems.

  • Experience building positive school culture and climate with stakeholder participation.

  • Experience serving diverse populations.

  • Experience in the content areas of Math and Science.

Required Certification : Teaching certification in Education
