Job Title: FPGA EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled FPGA Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for solving complex problems that may require extensive research and analysis. You will work independently to develop innovative solutions and contribute to the completion of project milestones. You will utilize schematic capture tools, design VHDL code for FPGAs, develop code for embedded microcontrollers, and write interface control documents, specifications, and test procedures for designs. You will also report on project status and work closely with hardware in a lab setting to debug using lab equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex problems requiring research and analysis of alternatives involving many factors.

  • Work independently to determine and develop innovative solutions.

  • Contribute to and ensure the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.

  • Utilize schematic capture tools such as Mentor Graphics DxDesigner.

  • Design VHDL code for FPGAs (Altera/IntelPSG and/or Xilinx).

  • Develop code for embedded microcontrollers (Atmel, Microchip, etc).

  • Write interface control documents, specifications, and test procedures for designs.

  • Report status including schedule progress and issues.

  • Work closely with hardware in a lab setting and debug using lab equipment (e.g., Spectrum Analyzer, Digital Oscilloscope).

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in FPGA engineering.

  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

  • Knowledge of FPGA programming with Altera/IntelPSG/Xilinx.

  • Experience with embedded controllers and microprocessors.

  • Proficiency in VHDL, C++, and C#.

  • Experience with embedded software development.

  • Knowledge of full stack and back end development.

  • Understanding of radio frequency principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Work Environment

This position is within a large government and defense organization that supports all branches of the military. It is primarily an office-based role, involving sitting behind a desk to write new code and update legacy code for new applications. The organization offers above-average benefits, tuition reimbursement, a good work environment, and a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off.
