Perkins Technical Services, Inc. Procurement and Inventory Specialist in Huntsville, Alabama

**General Summary: [The ideal candidate will be responsible for purchasing, receiving, inventory control and shipping of all parts and assemblies through the use of computerized systems. Due to the small size of the company, the person filling this position MUST be a team player that is willing to help out wherever needed and willing to take on new task as seen fit by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:]{verdana",sans-serif"=""}**

  • Work with management to accurately procure inventory for fulfillment of Sales Orders (SO)/Work Orders (WO)
  • Procure all necessary items for Production and Research and Development by obtaining quotes, creating purchase orders, tracking orders and backorders, RMAs, etc
  • Communicate with vendors as needed
  • Inspect all incoming freight and non-freight (Ex: UPS, FedEx) items for damage and accurate quantities
  • Receiving incoming shipments into inventory and properly store or distribute all necessary documentation such as Receipts and Invoices, Packing Slips, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), etc
  • Create shipping labels, packing slips and all necessary documentation for small and large shipments, primarily consisting of small boxes and boxes secured to pallets
  • Making sure the proper freight shipments are picked up by the assigned carrier and retain necessary documentation such as signed Bill of Ladens (BOL)
  • Drop off small packages at local UPS or FedEx locations
  • Keep all inventory locations clean and organized
  • Deliver parts picked and kitted to the production floor
  • Oversee inventory quantities are accurate for all parts, subassemblies and finished goods. These include items from Production and pass-through items from vendors. This is to be done by regularly preforming cycle counts
  • Report to management and document any damaged goods and scrapped items
  • Develop and implement improvements to existing operational procedures in order to maximize efficiency and cut operational costs

*Required Education and Experience: *

  • High school diploma required (Associates or Bachelor Degree Preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in procurement and inventory
  • QuickBooks experience of 2+ years is preferred but not required
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft software suits, tape measures, weight scales, and other standard office technology
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch repeatedly
  • Good driving record for insurability
  • Experience operating a Forklift is preferred
  • Superior organizational and communication skills via email, phone, Teams, etc.

**Work Environment: This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
