CFD Research Corporation Systems Engineer (Modeling and Simulation) in Huntsville, Alabama

Position Summary and Responsibilities CFD Research is supporting the development of an advanced high speed/hypersonic (HS/H) Hot Air Tunnel (HAT) which will have the ability to maintain high quality flow characteristics and significantly advance the state of the art over current facilities. The Systems Engineer in this role will support highly specialized, vital activities regarding the design, development, test and evaluation of any or all high speed/hypersonic (HS/H) Hot Air Tunnel (HAT) operations. Specifically, the candidate in this role will use M S techniques to help shape design efforts as well as predicting outcomes prior to live experimental testing. Candidate's analyses will be used to shape the design and development of tunnel subsystem architectures, overall system architectures, and define key performance capabilities (compared to requirements). The computation tools of greatest relevance to this effort include Modelica, Simulink, MATLAB, LabView, GFSSP or other similar software packages. Duties will range from fundamental Hot Air Tunnel system modeling development and validation to the design and/or development of specific subsystems and/or infrastructure operations based on analysis from developed models. Additional emphasis on component design methods and development, adherence to completion dates, acceptance criteria and sustainment after delivery can be anticipated. Qualifications: Education and Experience Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (similar STEM degree would be considered) Candidate should have at least 2 years of developing models of aeronautical systems Preferred candidate will have experience using M S techniques (at the system level) to help facility prototyping efforts for a fast-moving technology development program Experience with wind tunnel related projects is highly desirable.
