Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft cloud services through the operation of our unified global datacenters enabling 30% of Microsoft revenue through Commercial Cloud ($38 billion in FY20 Q1). The Cloud Infrastructure Health team in CO+IE is focused on improving Cusomer Availability, Data center Safety, Capacity and helping optimize the utilization of Datacenter resources using telemetry and Insights. Our systems analyze petabyte scale telemetry data from Datacenter critical environments and secondary signals in near real time and offline that enable timesensitive insights directly impacting Cloud Operations.Our team is looking for an experienced, competent, and motivated Principle SWE Lead with leadership skills who wants to make an impact while delivering success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching and caring.

In this role, you will lead a team of talented software engineers, and Site Reliability Engineers, work closely with business stakeholders, program managers, and other software engineering teams to deliver robust, high-performing, mission-critical solutions that analyse large scale telemtry data for delivering on our First to Know goals for Customer Impacting Incidents, Safety Incidents.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine domain requirements within and across teams for multiple solutions or product lines by leveraging a variety of feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes.

• Overseeing the incorporation of appropriate continuous feedback loops measuring customer value, usage patterns, and other actionable metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Defining quality metrics, best practices, and coding patterns to ensure testable and reliable code.

• Provides technical and people leadership during design reviews for a solution/product area to ensure that it meets the team's and Microsoft’s quality standards, is reliable and accurate, and is appropriate for the scale of the product feature.

• Ensuring that coding standards and best practices are followed.

• Championing skill development efforts to ensure engineering team's skills remain current by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current development.

• Mentoring and growing team members.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of working with large distributed systems, Cloud technologies preferably Azure.

• 5+ years of experience with PowerShell/Scripting, Windows Services infrastructure or equivalent to automate day-to-day activities.

• 5+ years of managerial experience leading large teams.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
