Manages the planning, hardware installation and configuration, optimization, operations, and ongoing maintenance of the computer/data center. Oversees systems performance, the monitoring of equipment, and the management of vendor relationships.

Responsible for capacity planning and continual assessments for process improvement to ensure that processes are well-documented, sustainable and scalable. Monitors ongoing practices to ensure consistency with policies, compliance regulations, and control requirements.

Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Job Description

Data Centre Operations Management provides operational input and requirements to the development of new Data Centre facilities within the region and establishes new operational capabilities as new sites and infrastructure are built.

The incumbent within this role collaborates with colleagues in Operations and the wider business to implement change and strategic projects and takes an active leadership role by directing and managing regional resources during complex incidents and drives communication with clients and suppliers through resolution, including any subsequent root cause analysis.

In this position you will be required to:

  • Lead and manage the team of DC Site Manager, Deputy Site Manager, Technicians, and Security team within the Rhine/Main region.

  • Maintain good working relationships with other Regional Directors and senior-level stakeholders at NTT GDC.

  • Takes all necessary measures to ensure that the customer SLA’s are met at all times. The goal is 100% service availability and zero downtime for all DC buildings in the region.

  • Provide mentoring and leadership to the staff within the region by fostering a culture of passion and commitment for reliability and customer service.

  • Manage all administrative and personnel affairs within the region by supporting recruitment, training, and staff engagement activities supported by an office manager resource.

  • Enable the region to achieve its objectives and facilitate collaboration with other regions and departments across the business.

  • Work with other areas of the business to ensure that a proactive culture towards safety and engineering best practices is promoted within the region.

  • Identify and drive improvements to region’s operational capability, working practices, productivity, and quality.

  • Ensure compliance against operational processes such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and safety systems.

  • Support the business’s commitment to quality and other related certifications by ensuring continual improvement against standards.

  • Maintain relationships with key customers, authorities, and vendors within the region.

  • Ensure the highest levels of satisfaction, including by attending periodic business review meetings.

  • Support any regulatory or industry certification by facilitating reporting and auditing within your region.

  • Manage a substantial budget by working closely with the DC Site Manager.

  • Undertake regular business planning reviews and support the business planning process for future expansions and new business.

  • Provide operational input and requirements to the development of new facilities within the region and establish new operational capabilities as new sites and infrastructure are built.

  • Collaborate with your colleagues in Operations and the wider business to implement change and strategic projects.

  • Take an active leadership role and live the NTT values by supporting and facilitating and guiding subordinate teams through changing environments.

  • Direct and manage regional resources during complex incidents and drive communication with customers and suppliers through to resolution, including supporting any subsequent root cause analysis.

Qualifications and certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration or real estate or equivalent.

Work experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, business management, corporate leadership, and decision-making in an international and growing technical corporate environment.

  • Excellent understanding of the complexity of data centers with demonstrable management and leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the operation of data centers infrastructure: both M&E and related security facilities.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading within critical service environments.

  • Proven track record of setting up and managing cross-cultural and cross-functional teams.
