Edwards Lifesciences Senior Director of Upstream Marketing, THV in Irvine, California
This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional marketing professional with significant experience to join a team of experts in Upstream Marketing and Professional Education for our THV Business Unit. As the Senior Director for the team, you will lead teams responsible for upstream marketing activities including new product development, training and discovery. Through your teams, you will drive important activities for our next generation devices including product scope, product requirements, training manuals and plans, business development strategy and execution, as well as market intelligence. In a dynamic growth environment, you will be responsible for balancing individual efforts with those of direct reports and other functional departments. You will collaborate with multiple functions including R&D, strategy, clinical development, quality and downstream marketing to ensure market success. This position reports directly to the SVP, Global Marketing, THV.
How you'll make an impact:
Partner with key thought leaders to anticipate the future market environment and unmet needs
Develop robust global product development roadmaps and drive alignment with leadership and cross-functional partners, especially R&D peers
Collect, analyze and interpret voice of customer (VOC) in order to define product and market requirements
Identify, track, predict, and prepare for competitive strategies as well as the onset of new competitors
Design market research and intelligence strategies to drive portfolio development decisions
Define differentiating global value propositions for product pipeline
Lead market assessments and deep dive projects to inform investment priorities
Identify and assess early-stage opportunities for investment including due diligence
Effectively collaborate with R&D teams and leadership to drive prioritization and progress of development efforts
Develop training content, tools and frameworks that enable excellent patient outcomes and strengthen the differentiation of portfolio
Effectively showcase our portfolio of therapies for both internal and external audiences
Identify and evaluate marketing process improvement opportunities
Effectively build and lead a team of product managers to successfully execute strategies
Direct team’s activities with responsibility for planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to business processes
Plan and direct strategic marketing activities including prioritizing and selecting appropriate projects with overall responsibility for meeting business objectives
Deliver robust strategic talent development plan in alignment with functional growth strategies and desired culture of the department
Develop key relationships with executive leaders through exceptional executive communication
Demonstrate complete understanding of medical device product development process
Provide direction to project teams based on expert understanding of internal and external product and market dynamics (e.g., product functionality, lifecycle, customer research, clinical evidence)
Build trust with key thought leaders to anticipate future market environment and unmet needs
Partner with external market research vendors and creative agencies
Lead and support team through meaningful coaching and development planning
What we look for (Required):
Bachelor's Degree in in related field , 14 years years experience of years’ work experience and previous related experience working in marketing or healthcare industry Required with a minimum of five years in a supervisory role. or
Master's Degree or equivalent in in related field , 12 years years experience of years’ work experience and previous related experience working in marketing or healthcare industry with a minimum of five years in a supervisory role.
A minimum of ten years relevant medical device marketing experience is required, with a master’s degree, with a minimum of five years in a supervisory role.
What else we look for (Preferred):
Previous experience managing product managers is required. Interventional cardiology experience is preferred
Quantitative decision making with strong ability to interpret and summarize imperfect data
Synthesizes complex information into a high-level strategic message, while owning the details
Strong analytical skills, presentation preparation and presentation delivery are required
Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision and develop others
Motivates teams to achieve individual and program-specific objectives
Demonstrates outstanding business acumen and excellent judgement
Embodies a strong work ethic, positive mindset and willingness to question the status quo
Manages multiple tasks through effective prioritization

Domestic and International Travel up to 40%

For California, the base pay range for this position is $182,000 to $259,000 (highly experienced).
