Kelly Services Chemist III in Itasca, Illinois

Kelly Science & Clinical has a new, temporary opportunity for Chemist III in Itasca, IL!

Shift: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm

A 3-6 Month Contract Opportunity

Essential Duties:

  • Maintain current procedures and reports based on published methods.

  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of final reports, test results, and data analysis.

  • Prepare, review, and oversee SOPs, STPs, and other testing protocols.

  • Manage laboratory safety, sample traceability, and data integrity.

  • Perform and improve testing methodologies, including equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

  • Optimize instrument performance and handle non-routine maintenance.

  • Maintain high service standards and manage client interactions including visits and consultations.

  • Coordinate with teams to exceed client expectations, set testing parameters, and handle inquiries from sales and service teams.

  • Adhere to GLP, GMP, ISO 17025, and ISO 9001 standards.

  • Assess data quality and regulatory compliance to enhance procedures.

  • Manage test workflows to meet deadlines and sponsor expectations.

  • Oversee project improvements and validation, collaborating across company sections.

  • Explore new opportunities to enhance laboratory capabilities.

  • Travel as needed, including potential overnight trips.

  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and company policies.

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

  • Keep current with scientific advancements and participate in standard committees.

  • Conduct training for new and existing staff.

Competencies:

  • Strong communication, customer service, and project management skills.

  • Ability to solve problems, advocate for change, and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Expertise in industrial chemistry and laboratory practices.

Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Chemistry preferred, or a minimum of a B.S./M.S. degree in Chemistry with five years of laboratory experience.

  • Proficient in analytical techniques like HPLC, UPLC, GC, ICP, and mass spectrometry, with skills in method development and validation.

Work Environment:

  • Operates in a laboratory setting with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.

  • Use of standard lab and office equipment; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of standing, moving, and desk-based work.

  • Must handle physical tasks and wear necessary protective gear.
