VCA Animal Hospitals Veterinary Technician Specialty Supervisor in Ithaca, New York

VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician Specialty Supervisor for our busy Internal Medicine and Oncology Departments . We are a hybrid animal hospital and proud to be one of the premier providers of primary, specialty and emergency care located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York.

Our 17 doctor hospital serves our clients 24/7/365. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing advanced care and management of patients in a specialty setting.

We offer our supervisors monthly training on leadership , human resources , empathy , burnout and compassion fatigue . We also work as a collaborative unit providing you the connectivity of 10 additional specialty hospital supervisor teams to grow, learn, and share information with. Working together to create effective, fulfilled teams, happy healthy hospitals, and overall career satisfaction.

Veterinary Technician Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Full Technician Skill Utilization

  • Experience in IM and Oncology preferred.

  • Oversee orientation, training and staff development for specialty services

  • Provide input to service development and equipment needs

  • Oversee dept scheduling, and time off requests

  • Working collaboratively with team members of all hospital services

  • Coaching associates based on need to aid in their success

  • Some regional travel required

  • Facilitate communication of ideas, policies, standards and performance

  • Provide feedback related to associate performance, and collaborate with leadership to develop performance improvement plans

  • Support associates in their career via VTNE guidance, licensure guidance, and scheduling

  • Maintain skill efficiency and knowledge

Potential Schedule: Flexible

Compensation : $25 - $28 / hour based on skill set, experience, and licensure status. (CVT, VTS)
