Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Junior Server Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, especially multi-user computers, such as servers. This role is full-time, remote, and a long-term contract.

What You’ll Do

  • Regularly check server health and performance

  • Monitor system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely

  • Apply patches and updates to servers to maintain security and efficiency

  • Ensure all systems are up to date with the latest updates and security patches

  • Implement and manage backup and recovery plans

  • Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backups

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls

  • Ensure proper authentication and authorization mechanisms are in place

  • Provide technical support to IT staff and employees

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in a timely manner

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in server administration

  • Strong knowledge of server hardware and software

  • Proficiency in managing Windows and/or Linux servers

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

  • Familiarity with network protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a remote team environment

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
