Clean Harbors Field Service Project Manager in Jacksonville, Florida

As a subsidiary of Clean Harbors, ERTS ( www.ertsonline.com ) provides 24/7/365 emergency spill response management nationwide to the transportation, oil and gas, chemical, manufacturing, retail, and insurance industries. We provide a complete turnkey service managing environmental affairs involving emergency spill response, remediation, regulatory reporting, and waste management. To provide coverage to all North America, we utilize a network of qualified pre-screened network contractors with preferred negotiated rates and discounts. One call puts the ERTS client in contact with our trained and experienced project management staff who are capable of meeting ERTS clients’ spill response or waste management needs.

Reporting to the Program Manager and Director National Waste Services, the Project Manager is responsible for successful projects of waste management practices for customers who need solutions for the effective handling of materials generated through their operations or after a hazardous materials spill incident.

  • Accurately logs information from client interactions into ALERT systems; updates client in a timely and accurate manner so that clients can track services inquiries and resolution.

  • Proposes customer solutions that are compliant with appropriate local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Provides technical assistance on environmental related issues.

  • Manages hazardous and chemical waste programs for clients onsite following Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and other state and federal government agencies’ regulations.

  • Provides quote(s) to client(s) as required by MSAs.

  • Coordinates and ensures proper disposal of hazardous waste and maintains accurate reporting with Federal, State, and local agencies.

  • Executes onsite support services for the entire lifecycle of hazardous materials management programs at client sites by performing chemical inventories, segregating chemicals, and shipping hazardous waste off-site.

  • Characterizes, consolidates, packs, labels, and ships hazardous waste for clients per RCRA and DOT regulations.

  • Trains clients on proper chemical safety and hazardous waste management.

  • Performs periodic field investigations as needed to build and maintain necessary databases to verify regulatory compliance.

  • Assist in preparation of Contingency Plans, Quick Reference Guides and Waste Minimization/Waste Reduction Plans

  • Schedules contractors, if needed, to identify, repack, and the sampling of “unknown waste.”

  • Audit all subcontractor work orders/invoices for accuracy.

  • Maintains professional competency in all aspects of the job.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

  • 2+ years of experience managing hazardous waste programs including RCRA Compliance on behalf of clients.

  • 5+ years of applicable industry experience to include leading people/teams in relevant waste services, as described above.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related area preferred; plus, five (5) years relevant experience to include leading people/teams in the relevant areas described above. Alternately, any equivalent 5+ year combination of training, education and experience demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the duties of the position.

  • Experience with regulatory status requirements of Very Small, Small and Large Quantity Generators, such as RCRA, DOT etc.

  • Direct hazardous material response experience is required.

  • RCRA and DOT training certificates required.

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

  • Possess strong time management skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, & the ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Possess a collaborative mindset and the ability to effectively communicate and motivate in team settings and across various levels of organization.

  • Well versed in standard Office Word, Adobe and software used by ERTS.

  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to pass background check.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Although travel is minimal, Program Mangers may occasionally visit client locations for review updates to the National Response Headquarters in Jacksonville, FL.

  • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time.

  • Ability to work in a home office environment at a computer with a quiet to moderate noise level.
