Responsibilities

A Surgical Tech attends the surgeon and surgical team peri-operatively to provide for optimum peri-operative experience. Knowledge of anatomy, instrumentation, patient safety and sterile technique. Our state-of-the-art hospital in Jacksonville includes 34 operating rooms that include an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite. We use the best modern equipment and advanced technologies to create an environment that merges the art of healing with the science of medicine.

Qualifications

EDUCATION : Graduate of an accredited and/or hospital approved Surgical Technician program. Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE : Fulfilled through the educational process and documented on a skill check list which is kept current on each individual.

Additional Qualifications:

COMPETENCY: Otorhinolaryngology General/Gynecology Neurology Orthopedics Cardiovascular. Cardiothoracic experience strongly preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Principles of aseptic technique; orientation of surgical procedures; preparation, operation and care of equipment and machines; understands patient and staff safety recommendations.

• Capable of rapid accurate reactions

• Concern for quality patient care

• Communicates and works effectively with various levels of personnel

• Stands and walks major portion of work schedule

• Moderate to heavy lifting required

• Exposure to cuts, burns, infection, biohazardous chemicals and x-ray

License or Certification:

• Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.

• Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
