The Plant Leader will direct and be responsible for overall manufacturing performance of the site and delivery against plan goals. The Suzhou Site supports approximately $1.0B Joints Business with a volume of approximately 1.8MM units and is a strategic site within the Joints Reconstruction Supply Chain. This position will direct and implement all aspects of the company's strategic plan within the Suzhou site. This individual will be responsible for ensuring quality and compliance for the site and creating an environment that prioritizes and holds site leadership accountable for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS). This role will provide clear direction for the plant leadership team (not all will have direct reporting relationships) to ensure clarity of expectations and responsibilities. He/she will influence across the matrix and collaborate with other functional partners (Quality, Technical Operations, Finance, IT, HR, Facilities, Procurement, and Planning) and other Supply Chain leaders to ensure alignment with goals and priorities.

This role acts as the integral link in all plant communication channels and will act as champion to build external community engagement. In addition, this role will be responsible to encourage, coach, develop future leaders and to demonstrate inspiration across a broad, highly diverse employee population.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in formulating and executing operations-wide strategies and objectives. Takes the lead in developing plant manufacturing strategies and objectives

  • Drive strategic projects to optimize supply chain, product, and process quality and to reduce costs and move the organization to a world-class benchmark

  • Develop, monitor, and effectively utilize dashboards, control charts and operational indicators and take action to correct those situations which are not in line with established controls or targets.

  • Effectively manage and resource; material, and capital resources to meet customer service, Quality, Financial, Health, Safety and Environmental and product and process improvement targets

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.

  • Work diligently to significantly reduce all forms of critical defects and as part of a wider integrated product recall prevention plan strive to eliminate “field-issues” on a permanent basis

  • Develop and sustain a culture of waste reduction and, in conjunction with the above and first pass throughput yield remediation, delivering a sustained improvement in product and process quality

  • Ensure the Quality System is regularly audited/reviewed, and that appropriate preventive and corrective actions are identified and executed to improve quality results

  • Maintains familiarity with applicable quality system regulations & standards for the medical products manufactured at the site and factors these requirements into business decisions and recommendations

  • Complies with all applicable quality management system, environmental, safety and occupational health policies. (for example, ISO 13485, ISO14001 & OSHAS18001)

  • Develop and successfully monitor the Plant to meet or exceed the agreed Business Plan

  • Drive identification and successfully implement cost improvement projects (CIP’s)

  • Fulfill all business plan financial, cash flow, and other obligations

  • Ability to use Data Analytics, Six Sigma, and Lean tools effectively and create a culture that ensures all levels of management are effectively using these tools along with credible and simple metrics to significantly improve business results

  • Recommend and implement employee development programs to raise the associate’s capabilities

  • Create a compelling work environment in which every associate is valued and recognized for their contribution to our success

  • Build and continue to develop a strong, solid, cohesive extended operations leadership team. Aligned, inclusive and confident in openly challenging the leader and each other

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level

  • For those who supervise and manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in manufacturing in the medical device or related industry with heavy emphasis on FDA Regulatory requirements is required

  • Master’s in engineering or supply chain related subject (preferred)

  • Experienced leader with the ability to work with global stakeholders

  • Experience managing a large organization within a multinational environment is required

  • Experience creating and developing a high performing, diverse and inclusive organization is required

  • Experience in planning, sourcing, manufacturing, deliver, quality, or engineering highly preferred. Experience in or strong partnership with Commercial and/or R&D organizations is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate others toward a common goal or vision across all employee levels.

  • Experienced working and executing using Lean tools, such as Just in Time (JIT), 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping, to create value improvement gains is preferred. Six Sigma and/or LEAN certification is highly preferred.
