  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing; a baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred, but not required. Must be licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in the state where practicing.

  • Experience

  • Must have three to five years of recent clinical experience in a variety of clinical settings. Must demonstrate teaching abilities and be able to communicate effectively; must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infectious disease; must demonstrate ability to establish good rapport and working relationships with medical center personnel. Must demonstrate ability knowledge and/or experience in sterilization and sanitation procedures, and in patient care practices related to sterile technique.

  • Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Distinguishes smells. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguishes temperatures by touch and proximity. Frequent exposure to fumes, odors, waters. Uses computer, typewriter, slide projector, overhead projector, VCR/TV, copy machine, fax, calculator, telephone. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching. Lifting and Carrying up to 10lbs, Pushing/Pulling up to 30 lbs. Exposure to biological hazards.

  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for providing surveillance throughout the medical center in order to identify, investigate, and record data concerning hospital acquired infectious and communicable disease, and will work closely with the Epidemiology/ Infection Prevention Director, to initiate infection control measures. .Responsible for providing infection prevention educational programs for the medical center employees. Assist in coordinating and implementing activities associated with the employee health. This person must possess excellent communication skills and function at a high level as a member of collaborative interdisciplinary teams and use independent judgement. This position requires certification in Infection Prevention within two years of beginning position and maintain thereafter.
