The Buildings & Infrastructure Business Unit within Jacobs’ Defense and Security market is a global network of employees, which serve both the private and public sector. Our market in Germany is growing, and we are looking to hire an experienced engineer to join our teams. Successful candidate will have the chance to work with our internal network of Architects and Engineers designing defense and security focused facilities for the U.S. Federal Government, NATO- member Governments and related institutions.

Our projects offer you exciting challenges and exceptional development opportunities. This job is hybrid, combining home office with the ability to work in the Kaiserslautern, Munich, or Wurzburg office at least 2 days per week on average.

Key duties of the role include:

  • Planning and design of technical building services in the area of heating, ventilation, plumbing and air conditioning in accordance with the performance phases of the HOAI.

  • Providing technical support and consultancy for other project engineers and planning/design teams.

  • Preparing technical drawings, design analysis, calculations, construction documents, and specifications.

  • Ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Coordinating with team members, clients, general contractors, and local construction, permitting and design agencies.

  • Project-related national and international travel.

  • Solving design challenges and adapting to unforeseen issues.

  • Adherence to quality and health and safety standards.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Diplom- Ingenieur, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC/Plumbing) or equivalent qualification in the field.

  • Several years of professional experience in planning and design of technical building services (Technische Gebaeudeausruestung - TGA), including heating, ventilation, plumbing and air conditioning systems.

  • Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices (state of the art) as well as interdisciplinary regulations such as HOAI or DIN standards.

  • Ideally, experience with both Federal (German and US) and Private clients.

  • Practical knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, relevant MS Office Software, and industry-standard specifications software (ideally, Orca).

  • Practical knowledge of mechanical design software, such as building heating/cooling load calculations, piping and ductwork friction loss calculations, ventilation requirement calculations, and mechanical equipment selection (pumps, fans, chillers, cooling coils, boilers, etc.)

  • Ideally, experience with BIM 360 and Bluebeam.

  • Fluency in German and English (both written and spoken).

  • Ideally, knowledge in project management.

  • Willingness to travel (10-15%).

  • Solution-oriented approach and strong decision-making skills.

  • Pleasure in coordination and communication with different stakeholders.

  • Ability to work in a team and strong communication skills.

  • Independent and structured way of working.

  • Problem-solving skills.
