/Hourly Pay Rate DOE $28.66-$31.91/

Weyerhaeuser is seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility. Weyerhaeuser’s Montana Wood Products is currently looking for an Industrial Carpenter to join our Kalispell Plywood facility. A qualified candidate would have a thorough comprehensive knowledge of building processes, facility maintenance, and techniques to safely repair, modify, install and maintain the facility.

As an Industrial Carpenter at Kalispell, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support manufacturing by providing support for facility structures and systems in a safe manner, while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals
  • Work with a team of millwrights and electricians to deliver preventative and routine maintenance on plant structures and systems; troubleshoot and repair complex structure and system problems; and work on capital projects including new construction
  • Maintain all the building structures and systems for the proper functioning of the plant.
  • Manufacture/fabricate items when necessary
  • Improve/upgrade/remodel existing building internal structures.
  • Implement safe and sound methods to repair and maintain the Kalispell complex
  • Work closely with other departments as well as outside contractors on multi phased building projects and or remodels
  • Operate a Bobcat, Backhoe, Forklift, and man lift as needed
  • Provide expertise in construction methods/best practices, as well as remedy seen and unseen dangers
  • Assist with design plans for building projects
  • Assist with management of complex building projects
  • Read and interpret blueprints; construct buildings including but not limited to concrete work, paving, framing, hanging sheet rock, trim/finish work, painting and roofing

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required

  • Minimum three (3) years of carpentry experience required
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility preferred

Specific Skills

  • Basic plumbing and install understanding
  • Complete estimates and orders for all necessary materials
  • Build concrete pads, foundations, cabinets, lockers, shipping boxes, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in basic computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, web-based applications including the internet, and preventative maintenance application.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards
  • Ability to work closely with supervisors and other departments; be a team player/leader; good communication skills, and demonstrate positive attitude
  • Self-starter with ability to prioritize and complete work in a timely manner when unsupervised.
  • Maintain a clean work station, and exhibit good performance, safety and attendance records
  • Tasks performed involve work with equipment and materials that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and the following of these procedures in order to maintain the safety of the work environment
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, overtime and weekends/holidays

Additional Requirements

  • The job of Carpenter is a Very Heavy-Duty job. Very Heavy Duty involves exertion of more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds continuously to move objects. Essential duties include but are not limited to stooping, climbing and crawling for construction/repair purposes and the ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds. Must be comfortable working above the ground at times, and outside as necessary. Candidates must have the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions.
