About the Role

In this role you will be responsible for the availability and smooth operation of a Treasury payment system. You will provide application-specific support and monitoring in a production environment. As a trusted partner you will provide subject matter expertise to Treasury colleagues. This position leverages in-depth technical and business knowledge to recommend application enhancements during the software development lifecycle. This position provides testing and production technical support to resolve simple to complex problems. You will represent the application support team to other groups within the Federal Reserve System and Treasury.

Key Activities

  • Provides technical support for business solutions, application-related user issues, and/or system hardware problems by performing root causes analysis. Communicates status of resolution to appropriate parties. May be required to provide technical support outside of normal business hours.

  • Proposes technology solutions to incorporate, improve, redesign, and/or enhance business processes. May guide and assist business owners and/or project managers in determining the scope and vision of solutions. Identifies gaps and may conduct relevant research during the development lifecycle.

  • Manages projects according to established standards by communicating with relevant stakeholders on status of implementation, application-related issues, application requirements, enhancements, changes, outages, and/or other production disruptions.

  • Provides guidance on the development and prioritization of system enhancements by working with relevant stakeholders (i.e., product owners, technical support teams, developers, testers, and/or end-users). Tracks, analyzes, tests, and validates infrastructure and software changes, which includes developing user acceptance test scripts.

  • Designs and builds moderately complex database queries for ad hoc requests and for recurring reporting needs, based on stakeholder specifications.

  • Proactively monitors live application event logs and system-generated alarms, interprets the events, and provides recommended course of remediation.

  • Performs installation and configuration of server applications on designated environments, which includes contingency planning and regular contingency testing of applications and related infrastructure. Identifies gaps in resiliency and proposes solutions.

  • Coordinates collection of testing results and provides guidance to technical teams on prioritized defect resolution.

  • Reviews and/or creates application system documentation (i.e., processes, procedures, system flow diagrams) for supported products.

  • Manages and/or builds relationships with National IT/local IT support groups and vendors. For vendors, monitors deliverables and deadlines, ensures vendor compliance with contracts, and leads resolution of technical issues. Serves as liaison to customers and user departments to implement information programs/systems, ascertain needs and acceptance, and to resolve problem situations.

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires 3 years of experienced with providing post-production second-level application support.

  • Associate’s degree specializing in information technology or a closely related field from an accredited two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.

  • Must provide on-call support over weekend and/or evening hours as part of a team rotation.

  • Excellent customer service, multi-tasking, analytical, and communication skills (written and oral), including the ability to explain technical concepts to end-users and non-technical staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects of varying size and scope effectively.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge of application monitoring, application support, and payment systems.
