Working Title Lead Custodian
Brief Summary of Job Description
The Facilities Planning and Management Department is seeking applications for a full-time, first shift, Lead Custodian to assist department management with the day to day activities of the custodial staff who perform custodial duties for student housing, academic buildings and sport facilities. Quality customer service will be provided to the client at all times. Knowledge or willingness to learn proper cleaning techniques is essential. Starting pay $16.27 per hour.
Lead and participate in the essential functions of custodial activities of assigned building, along with providing training in the following ares based on department established standard;
Provide work direction to assigned custodians on job schedules, work orders and coverage
The proper use of labeling, dilution, storage and the use of all chemicals
The proper use of equipment, maintenance, storage and techniques for their use
Handle all Work Orders for ; Fire Extinguishers, Emergency Light and AED’s
Order supplies according to established guidelines & procedures
Pickup and/or deliver laundry and performs laundry duties
Lead& participate in major summer cleaning projects as assigned
Lead & participate with Set up & Tear down for special events
Moving & Stacking furniture, risers & railings
Operate motorized devices for pulling out & pushing in bleachers
Lead & participate in Snow Removal from entrances, steps & sidewalks within 15 feet of a building using shovel/snow blower & dispersing salt
Essential Functions: Daily job responsibilities/ functions to include, but not limited to :
Dust horizontal/vertical furniture, stair rails & vents
Clean & Sanitize office furniture, desktops, cabinets
Clean & Sanitize sinks, countertop, cabinets & appliances in break rooms & kitchenettes
Clean windowsills & windows
Remove trash/recycling & replace liners
Vacuuming, sweeping, & mopping of floors & stairs
A High school diploma/GEDeducation, or a combination of education, training or work experience that will enable the incumbent to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, travel up and down stairs, climb, stoop, bend, and work from ladders or platforms at various heights. Interpersonal and communications skills as performed in a critical customer service capacity interacting with residents, department staff, campus staff and community external toUNK. Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
One year of custodial experience, a valid driver’s license and has received vaccination for Hepatitis B.
