The demand for fresh food is increasing the need for better shipping and storing capabilities across the entire cold supply chain. Food spoilage is a major problem with 1/3 of it being thrown away. Food safety is a problem as well with 1 in 6 Americans contracting foodborne illness each year. We do see a future where all food shipped from farm to fork, arrives safely and sustainably. Copeland does not produce, move, store, or sell food directly. However, we serve the businesses that do all those things!

The Senior Lead Embedded Engineer is a technical leader, responsible for the design, development, and tracking of sophisticated projects in an Agile development framework. This position will be responsible for developing and supporting software written in C/C++ for various near real-time control platforms.
The candidate will be required to:
Accomplish specific deliverables for new product development, sustaining engineering and cost reduction projects
Create Design, Coding and Specification documentation in support of defined requirements.
Work in an Agile development environment
Update and track project deliverables in Agile tools
Produce quality focused code to fulfill defined requirements.
Interact with technical leads both domestic and offshore.
Actively participate in code reviews and design discussions.
Interact with external groups such as product management and technical support.
Demonstrate good English language skills both written and verbal
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, Computer Science similar degree.
10+ years embedded firmware design, experience with Inter-Process Communications (IPC) including semaphores, queues, multi-threading, and sockets.
7+ years C/C++ experience in delivered commercially available products.
Project life-cycle experience required.
Experience with Agile development methodologies required, Kanban, SCRUM
Experience with various microprocessors and compilers; x86, ARM (32bit/64bit), MSP430, ez80, etc.
Linux and control algorithm experience
Authorization to work in the U.S. now and in the future- temporary visas or sponsorship not supported for this role.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, Electrical Engineering
Objected Oriented programming and design
Good working knowledge of security and communications protocols; OWASP, TCP/IP, MODBUS, BACnet and Wireless, MQTT, and Cloud Technologies.
VxWorks, RTOS experience
HVAC/R industry experience.
Experience with Pawn Language
Flexible Work Schedule – Hybrid Work Option and Core Hours
This role has the flexibility of a hybrid work from home option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our Cold Chain business unit, headquartered in Kennesaw, is the leading provider of electronic controls and optimization services for supermarket, convenience store, restaurant, and refrigerated transportation customers and the OEMs that serve them. The business unit is comprised of multiple acquisitions organized to add value to Copeland’s world-leading products through control, connectivity, and monitoring. The business generates half of its revenue outside of North America and employs over 1,200 people globally. Headquartered in the Greater Atlanta area, the business has major operations in Minnesota, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, China, and the Philippines.
