Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Installation Technician I in Khobar, Saudi Arabia

Job DescriptionSchweitzer Engineering Laboratories provides complete power system protection, control, monitoring, automation, security and integration for utilities and industries worldwide. We are looking for an Installation Technician to provide technical support to customers. A successful candidate must have knowledge and experience for transmission and distribution systems, knowledge on power system protection, relay testing and commissioning, knowledge on procedures of power system protection, settings, and testing and related SEL products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform electrical field installations of basic complexity.

  2. Under the direction of a site or project lead, perform the following functions:

a. Protective relay installation, testing troubleshooting

b. Panel and cabinet demolition, installation and modification

c. Cable routing and assembly (including fiber)

d. Control house integration and assembly

e. Conduit forming and installation

  1. Develop and maintain knowledge of SEL Engineering Services processes and products.

  2. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

  3. Understand. Create. Simplify.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Basic working knowledge of analog and digital electronics

Ability to read and comprehend both mechanical and electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams and three-line diagrams

Willing to obtain SQEW certification within 3 months of accepting the role

Willing to obtain COM-100 certification within 6 months of accepting the role

Willing to travel up to 75% of the time

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills

Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

Generally, requires 3+ years of control panel wiring experience

Experience with SEL products

Experience working in active substations

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in outside environments with varying climates

Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, climb, and use arm and hand movements

Ability to carry tools and to handle materials and equipment of up to 50 pounds

Ability to work at heights on lifts, stepladders and/or extension ladders
