Join Our Team as a Wine and Spirits Department Manager Job Title: Wine and Spirits Department Manager

Type:Full-Time, Salaried Reports To:Store Director/Department Director

Are you passionate about wine and spirits and eager to lead a team in providing exceptional customer experiences? We are looking for a dynamic Wine and Spirits Department Manager who will guide and inspire our associates to achieve department goals and exceed customer expectations.

What You’ll Do:

As our Wine and Spirits Department Manager, you will:

  • Lead and Inspire:Coach and mentor a team of Wine & Spirits associates, fostering a positive and engaging work environment.

  • Staffing and Training:Recruit, interview, and train new team members, ensuring they are knowledgeable and confident in their roles.

  • Performance Management:Conduct performance reviews, set clear goals, and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Customer Service Excellence:Assist guests with product selection, take special orders, and resolve any customer concerns.

  • Inventory Management:Maintain optimal inventory levels, ensure accurate pricing, and uphold department standards.

  • Operational Excellence:Oversee sales floor and back stock conditions, addressing opportunities for improvement and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

  • Team Development:Develop Assistant Department Managers and Department Leads for future growth opportunities.

    What We’re Looking For:

    To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Educational Background:High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Leadership Skills:Proven ability to motivate and manage a team.

  • Retail Expertise:In-depth knowledge of retail food business, specifically wine & spirits department operations.

  • Customer Focus:Strong communication skills and the ability to handle customer interactions with tact and professionalism.

  • Safety Consciousness:Understanding of safety protocols and proper equipment usage, including hand jacks, balers, and forklifts.

    Prior experience as a bartender, bartending, or as server is a plus, but not required.

    Physical and Work Environment:

  • The employee must possess the ability to stand in place for long periods of time; walk in the store; bend, stoop and kneel regularly.

  • Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment.

  • This position requires the employee have the ability to have full range of upper body motion in order to occasionally lift stock.

  • Requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must possess functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment.

  • The position requires the employee to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

  • Working conditions consist of occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.
