Nuclear Regulatory Commission Senior Reactor Inspector in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania

Summary This position is located in the RI Office, Division of Operating Reactor Safety (DORS), Engineering Branch 2 (EB2) in King of Prussia, PA. The supervisor is Glenn Dentel, Branch Chief. This position is in the Bargaining Unit with the National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 208. Position is subject to Office of Government Ethics Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. Position is subject to the security ownership restriction reporting requirements. Responsibilities The successful candidate will serve as a region-based senior inspector to lead, plan, conduct, report, and integrate findings associated with inspections of nuclear reactors, in accordance with the NRC Inspection Manual. As a lead inspector or team member your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performing a various lead duties associated with inspecting and evaluating a wide variety of licensee engineering programs, performance, and support activities for reactor facilities in such areas as design verification, plant modifications, and equipment evaluation, maintenance, performance, and testing, with particular emphasis on electrical and control systems and components, fire protection and cyber security. Performing routine and complex inspections, allegations reviews, event response inspections, or area of emphasis inspections of reactor facilities to observe and assure conformance to NRC rules and regulations, inspection procedures, and orders. Preparing and coordinating reports of inspection findings to ascertain whether the facility is being operated safely, whether the licensee's performance in crosscutting areas is effective, and whether regulatory requirements are being satisfied. Integrating inspection findings into overall licensee assessment. Performing miscellaneous duties in support of the region-based inspection program, including enforcement and performance assessment. This position requires full qualification as an NRC inspector under NRC Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 1245, either Appendix C-1 or C-2. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, in addition to the basic education requirements, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GG-13) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as work experience in nuclear power plant design, maintenance and operation. Such experience should have provided you with the full range of knowledge, skills and abilities addressed in the rating factor questions that are associated with this vacancy announcement, in particular, electrical and control systems and components, fire protection and cyber security. Education Candidates must possess a bachelor's or higher degree in professional engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating a thorough knowledge of principles, theories, and practices in the field of engineering. In general, employees are expected to be in the office at a minimum of 4 days per pay period. Telework schedules are approved on a case-by-case basis.
