DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will serve as a direct aide to the Assistant District Executive for Transportation Systems Management, overseeing the Systems Performance Management section. Your responsibilities will involve the application of engineering principles and practices while managing various phases of the District's traffic control initiatives, focusing on the optimal functionality of traffic signal systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
A significant aspect of this position is the supervision of performance monitoring for the department's essential network, ensuring that maintenance activities are conducted to keep the traffic signal systems infrastructure in excellent condition. You will also coordinate network support from the Bureau of Information Operations (BIO) and implement necessary cybersecurity measures to safeguard signal and ITS systems from unauthorized access. Additionally, you will manage the implementation of connected vehicle technology to promote sustainable infrastructure design, adapting effectively to evolving standards. This role further emphasizes the design, review, and integration of intricate ITS traffic control systems and system engineering requirements, troubleshooting communication issues within the fiber network, and evaluating the performance of the Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) systems. The complexity of the ITS and fiber communication systems, many of which are unique to District 6, will require your expertise, particularly as RTMC traffic signal monitoring and Active Traffic Management (ATM) applications, including Part-Time Shoulder Use, are actively in operation.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Traffic Control Specialist. or
Two years of technical experience in traffic control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, civil engineering, or a closely related field. or
