Reporting to the Senior Manager, Merchandise Sourcing & Development, the Sustainability Sourcing Project Manager– Consumables (Project Hire) will support and influence the strategic direction towards achieving the Vertical Products Consumables business sustainability goals for the CPGP organization. This individual will leverage industry insights and deep knowledge of packaged food and beverage sustainability to drive strategy, feasibility assessment, and project execution in support of Disney’s Scope 3 Green House Gas reduction and Sustainable cocoa goals for their Vertical Products business.

This is a full-time Project Hire role - 12 months (possibility to extend)

You Will:

On any given day, as the Sustainability Sourcing Project Manager– Consumables (Project Hire) you might:

  • Develop a sustainability strategy and initiative roadmap for the Consumables (Disney branded food and beverage) team within Disney’s Vertical Product business to achieve our 2030 sustainability goals for Scope 3 emissions reduction and for cocoa to be from certified sustainable sources.

  • Analyze Vertical Product Consumables Scope 3 emissions data to prioritize Consumables areas of focus.

  • Train appropriate portions of our organization on what sustainable food and beverage means for Vertical Product’s Scope 3 emissions reduction strategy.

  • Complete project feasibility assessments for potential projects, with consideration of cost estimation, timeline, execution process, claims on product, packaging, key stakeholders, etc. Example projects may include deforestation-free cocoa, lower-carbon dairy ingredients, and environmentally-preferred ingredient substitutions.

  • Lead execution of approved projects and partnership with key collaborators.

  • Provide subject-matter expertise on RSPO certification for cocoa.

  • Work with suppliers to source food and beverage items and ingredients as part of project execution.

  • Strategic development of processes and systems to enable project execution and measure / track progress for Consumables sustainability goals through key KPIs and supporting business metrics.

  • Serve as day-to-day point of contact for sustainability matters, questions, or concerns within the Vertical Product Consumables business, and provide line-of-sight to Senior Manager on daily business issues.

  • Support strategies to identify key opportunities to scale product creation efforts, and streamline and simplify how we create and develop sustainable Consumable products.

  • Collaborate cross-company with other food sustainability subject matter experts to leverage learnings from other businesses, share our learnings, and leverage best practice sharing.

  • Collaborate with sustainability communications teams to leverage food and beverage sustainability storytelling opportunities.

  • Contribute to a positive culture that champions partnership, creativity, and innovation while driving accountability to results.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in a sustainability related field

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Previous experience in the food and beverage industry

  • Previous experience with Rainforest Alliance and Fair Trade certification for cocoa products

  • Subject matter expertise on RSPO certification

  • Proven analytical capabilities

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Project management skills

  • Experience sourcing ingredients and packaged foods

  • Experience managing supplier relationships

  • Familiarity with working in—or with—large matrixed organizations

  • Strong communication skills and capacity to develop and deliver presentations, including demonstrated experience in creating visually compelling decks and materials

  • Teammate with track record for building strong working relationships

  • Ability to balance shifting priorities to lead and deliver complex projects on time

Preferred Education

  • Science, Engineering, or Business bachelor’s degree in related field.
