Actalent Analytical Bio-synthesis Technician in Knoxville, Tennessee

This role helps support one of the first and largest bioengineered microbial factories. Process is one of the largest scale green chemistry/bio-fermentation, this helps eliminate the need for petroleum products used in traditional synthesis. Primary focus will be supporting quality control functions of the operation. An individual has the opportunity to learn 10 major analytical instrumentations and various other techniques, great opportunity to hone and increase analytical chemistry skillset.

We are seeking someone that can adapt to an evolving work flow with the ability to prioritize and balance daily tasks. Integrity is a must as results and work produced are required to meet FDA standards. Our products have end users in various industries including pharma, food & bev, cosmetics, and polymers (synthetic rubbers).

Analytical Tech will analyze and report on up to 50 samples per shift. It is critical to be detail orientated and prioritize tasks at hand efficiently. Each day is slightly different. Good attitude, willingness to learn, accountability, ownership mentality, and team player attitude will weigh heavier than technical abilities in selection process.

• Analyze samples received from final product retains, various process steps, and additional samples associated with R&D projects

• Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment such as GC, HPLC, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, Sulfur & Nitrogen analyzers, Probes - conductivity & pH, Glucose analyzers

• Familiarity with quality systems in a regulated environment including GMP, GLP, FCC, USP requirements

• Familiarity with LIMS systems and chromatography data collection systems. Labware LIMS and Chromperfect

• Responsible for accurate data entry into SAP prior to final product release

• Assist in customer complaint investigations

• Organize and maintain the sample retainer room

• A team player that possesses strong analytical, oral/written communication and computer skills

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize with attention to detail

• Ability to work in fast-paced environment/adapt to changing procedures with minimal supervision

PLEASE NOTE: schedule for this role is based off a DuPont swing shift. This is a pattern in which four teams rotate between 12hr day and night shifts to provide 24hr coverage. E.g., 1st wk T-W days, off Thurs then F-Sun nights, 2nd wk off M-W then Thurs-Sun days, 3rd week off, 4th wk M-Thurs nights off F-Sun.
