Required:

• High School Diploma.

Preferred:

• Associates Degree in a related field.

Job Title:

Electrical - Locomotive Experimental Tester

Key Job Elements:

• Perform maintenance and repair work on engines and locomotives;

• Setup and operate diesel engine performance and emission tests;

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical malfunctions;

• Install and troubleshoot instrumentation related to engine testing.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

• 3 + years of relevant work experience in diesel engine related products (locomotive, marine, power plant);

• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine design;

• The ability to work independently or in a team environment; must be self-directed;

• The ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, demonstrate flexibility, initiative and the willingness to respond to shifting time and project demands;

• Ability to read Engineering drawings;

• Ability to use gauges and instrumentation, and take engineering measurements;

• Knowledge of shop practices and basic machinery;

• Medium level of computer skills;

• 3 + years of relevant work experience in diesel engine related products (locomotive, marine, power plant);

• Basic math skills;

• Basic reading & writing skills in English;

• Communicate effectively in English language;

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.

Preferred:

• Structural welding skills;

• Fabrication of sheet metal and piping;

• Ability to operate a locomotive;

• Experience with electrical wiring and instrumentation.

Physical Requirements:

• 35 pound max lift, 50/60 pound max push force;

• Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel and/or crouch;

• Ability to stand or walk more than 5 hours;

• Ability to step up & down repeatedly on platforms;

• Ability to climb ladders;

• Must pass a fitness for duty exam.

• Position is safety sensitive as it requires working in and around live tracks and operation and repair of heavy equipment. Position requires strict adherence to safety policies (i.e blue flag) and use of all PPE.
