Sulzer Pumps US Inc. Field Service Project Manager in La Porte, Texas

SUMMARY:
Project Managers provide coordination and management support for repair operations executed in the field in multiple areas. Provide complete coordination of all field activities from start to completion of field projects focusing on coordination of vendor services, daily reporting and review of critical data, and solving day-to-day issues that arise during field operations throughout North America. Provide direct input on technical issues during field operations focusing on identifying out of tolerance specifications for “as found” components, approving “as built” clearances for all machinery, and developing and approving disassembly and assembly procedures for all equipment and developing Subject Matter Expert program for target machines. Your main tasks and responsibilities:
Actively participate in selling activities
Prepare and review estimate quote requests and prepare detailed summary for estimating
Coordinate field projects from inception to completion
Provide daily project reports to division management for all active projects
Contact 3rd party vendors and arrange for services
Monitor out of scope work and issue change orders to cover out of scope work
Establish a clear line of communication between customer, site management and division management to manage all out of scope work, parts deliveries, issues and force reports
Create purchase orders for 3rd party vendors
Update weekly scheduling report with completion information
Maintain close contact with field supervisors to ascertain the progress of the project
Create, maintain and update the project schedule
Identify possible technical information data that may apply to the project
Develop schedules for planned outages such as CI, HGP and Major, with maximum flexibility when changes may occur & respond to unplanned outages
Develop and maintain close working relationships with STS superintendents, sales representatives, and supervisors
Receive, edit and review all outage reports and present to customer
Interface with customer contacts about operation irregularities and concerns
Research and acquire any special tooling needed for outages
Develop custom documentation for outage reports
Coordinate with the STS shop on parts deliveries and inspections
Coordinate all sub-suppliers during outages
Finalize project invoicing and payments with accounts receivable
Compile all technical documentation for our target machines and create database
Analyze information on our competitors including capabilities and objectives
Create clearance document packages for our target machines
Review all clearance documents and develop hold points in the schedule for review
Create work scopes for the primary outages of Combustion Inspection, Hot gas path, and Major inspections
Create work packages to detail specific duties in each work scope
Develop and maintain tools and procedures implemented within the Field Service Division
Support operations quality improvements
Takes responsibility for their own, and co-worker’s safety
Identify problems and areas of improvement and notify management accordingly
Confirm customer visitors have received the required safety induction, are properly signed in and have the required PPE while on shop visits
Ensure that projects are properly structured for safe execution, including direct interface with customer and safety personnel
Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Business Management is a plus but equivalent education and experience is accepted
Seven to ten years minimum execution experience in the field service and/or office environment
Broad and extensive knowledge of Legacy gas frame turbines GE, Siemens,Westinghouse as well as steam turbines and process equipment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with personnel from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability learn technical and design aspects for Rotating Equipment service and repairs
Widespread knowledge of process equipment from many different original equipment manufacturers
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Time management skills
Understanding of basic financial concepts
Physical ability to work in a shop and field environments
