Bureau of Reclamation IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) in Lakewood, Colorado

Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN). Duty Location: Lakewood, Colorado Responsibilities Develops standard operating procedures for a variety of IT hardware tasks or activities. Modifies, adapts, and/or refines broader guidelines to resolve specific complex and/or intricate issues and problems; and identifies and researches trends and patterns in order to develop new methods and criteria and/or propose new policies or practices for systems administration activities. Plans and coordinates product and equipment installation and lifecycle upgrades, overseeing and resolving technical and administrative problems, controlling current versions and future releases of hardware and applications software, and documenting the physical configuration of the systems. Researches options for problem resolution and recommendations. Presents in writing or orally to audiences within and external to the organization, identifying priorities and barriers to project accomplishment. Recommends additional components to improve overall system performance. Ensures guidance and work products comply with DOI and the organization's IT security requirements. Identifies and mitigates security vulnerabilities and risks. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available cybersecurity products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-13 level in federal service having demonstrated experience which must include: Experience providing enterprise level network, voice, and video telecommunications administration and customer support. Ability to document and maintain procedures for a variety of tasks or activities related to network, voice, and video telecommunications administration and support. Ability to install, implement, modify, and maintain new and/or existing telecommunications network and systems, such as, Cisco network switches, enterprise Voice over IP (VoIP), Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), Cisco Wireless Access Points (WAP), Cisco Jabber, SolarWinds, local area networks (LAN), and audio/visual teleconferencing systems. Ability to troubleshoot issues, upgrade systems and/or software, and resolve most technical problems without the intervention of management, which may include contractors and/or vendors. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 06/18/2024. Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience. Additional Information You may be required to serve an initial probationary period. Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and you may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
