Water Street Mission Sous Chef in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Job Summary: Supports the Executive Chef in the food preparation process for the mission. Assists in the training and supervision of all staff, guests and volunteers under the direction of the Food Services Manager.
FLSA: Full-time, non-exempt

Work in full coordination with other WSM staff at all times to identify, report and respond appropriately to any potential threats to the safety and wellbeing of guests.
Role Specific Responsibilities
Create, prepare and serve food items in accordance with menu specifications and established food safety practices as directed by Executive Chef.
Ensure that proper sanitation and food safety procedures are followed during clean up
Operate and clean various kitchen equipment.
In the absence of department supervision, maintain good order and discipline while on shift and report any violations in accordance with Mission and department policy
Work in harmony with all staff, guests and volunteers modeling Christ-like character and conduct
Function as the staff point person for the staff, guests and volunteers performing tasks in cooperation with shifts when acting as shift supervisor.
Perform work on Food Services dock.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: Food services experience in a restaurant or institutional setting, willing to manage staff, guests and volunteers, excels in a fast-paced work environment, enjoys menu planning and working in a team environment. High school diploma or GED preferred. Servsafe certification preferred. This position will work every other weekend and holidays.
