Our work depends on a Data Security Specialist to develop, lead, and operate Insider Threat programs at Federal agencies. As a Data Security Specialist, you will implement GDIT’s cutting-edge Insider Threat technologies and processes to enhance the protection of our nation’s high-value assets and mission-critical data. The ideal candidate has experience with Insider Threat programs and tools in the Federal sector. You will help our customers meet mission needs by putting the policies, processes, and tools in place to strengthen protections against vulnerabilities.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Develops, implements, enforces, communicates, and develops security policies or plans in compliance with regulations and privacy laws for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and information systems security education/awareness programs.

  • Monitors, evaluates, and maintains systems and procedures to safeguard internal information systems, network, databases, and public facing systems to protect against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure.

  • Recognizes potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises thorough analyses of relevant event detail, summary information, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and other tools as required.

  • Conducts investigations of information systems security violations and incidents, reporting as necessary. Identifies security issues for remediation and provides recommended solutions.

  • Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration, or denial of access to information.

  • Performs periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance.

  • May coach and provide guidance to less experienced professionals.

  • May serve as a team or task lead.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Technical Training Certification plus 5+ years of relevant experience.

  • Certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment, e.g., ISACA CISA or (ISC)2 CISSP Certification

  • Experience implementing and supporting Insider Threat programs within the Financial Services Industry or US Intelligence Community.

  • Extensive knowledge of data security administration principles, methods, and techniques.

  • Familiarity with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures.

Recommended Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree preferred

  • Experience developing software applications and provide software domain expertise to solve computer science cyber issues and associated forensics with a focus on insider threat.

  • Expertise in Data Extraction, specifically the ability to obtain data from variant sources and manipulate the data to support many analytical models and filters.

  • Certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment, e.g., ISACA

Location: DC metro area preferred but remote applicants considered. Team members living in the DC metro need to travel to client sites at the discretion of the government lead. The Government site is in Lanham, MD.
