Carmeuse Americas Schlegel Sales Representative in LANSING, Michigan

The Schlegel Sales Representative is responsible for generating new sales opportunities, lead conversion, customer acquisiton and driving growth for our aggregate product lines. Primarily covering the greater Lansing, MI market, the Sales Representative will be responsible for growing both new and existing customers. This role will be responsible for managing both project and fixed customers to identify the best opportunities to grow both volume and revenue for limestone aggregates and sand and gravel. Overtime, the Schlegel Sales Representative will become a subject matter exporter for external customers and serve as an antenna for the organization regarding the competitive landscape and opportunities within their region. Time spent managing accounts versus prospecting should be at the 50% level in both areas to support business objectives. Travel expectations up to 60% within the greater Lansing area.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Commercial, Supply Chain and Operations colleagues to build a plan to drive sales growth throughout the region, establish regional sales goals, track, analyze & monitor results

  • Develop an opportunity pipeline to support regional sales goals for accelerated growth in the south region

  • Consistently prospect, efficiently qualify / disqualify to prioritize the highest potentials for new business

  • Prioritize the best opportunities based on the customer, sales cycle, budget, timeline & business fit

  • Develop pricing and quoting acumen to respond to customer’s needs using a complete market perspective

  • Over time, become a subject matter expert on Schlegel’s products to help guide customers to the best solution based on their requirements

  • Work with QA, operations and supply chain to identify & solve customer problems, elevating to ensure when necessary to ensure customer needs are met.

  • Attend conferences, tradeshows, and industry associations events to build knowledge and relationships

  • Monitor competitive activity and gather market intelligence to provide regular updates on opportunities or threats

  • Learn & embrace the Schegel’s professional selling process

  • Maintain accurate and detailed customer, prospect and opportunity records using the company’s CRM system

  • Generate and maintain accurate 3-month rolling forecasts for the assigned area

  • Work closely with marketing and operations to provide feedback and recommendations for product and service enhancements

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in Business or related field

  • 1-5+ years of successful B2B sales, construction or aggregates sales a plus

  • Business development experience in construction or associated industry a plus

  • Up to 60% travel within the Great Lansing area.
