General Motors Shift Leader General Assembly in Lansing, Michigan

Job Description

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta Township Assembly on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The Shift Leader - General Assembly will be responsible to manage salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). This role requires the ability to deal with complex problems and supervise a very large group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments and processes. This role also requires the selected candidate to have the ability to work rotating shifts (rotate every few months between all 3 shifts).

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Coach, train, develop and evaluate employees

  • Provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations

  • Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group

  • Administers divisional and corporate policies

  • Meets cost, schedule and quality requirements

  • Maintains Corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standards

  • Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements

  • Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or project

  • Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment

  • Assist in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities

Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years of experience)

  • Leadership experience

  • Ability to rotate between all 3 shifts

  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience
