Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in LaPorte, Indiana is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in LaPorte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.
Job Summary
Support manufacturing through process control, continuous improvement initiatives, and maintenance.
Assume responsibility for the integrity of product processed through the Monoshell department.
Interact with internal and external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.
Troubleshoot manufacturing problems through root cause analysis.
Essential Functions:
Maintain and improve process input and output performance metrics.
Achieve cost reduction through process improvements.
Develop and refine manufacturing work instructions.
Achieve cost targets for development and production castings.
Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Monitoring and responding to process metric trends.
Develop new control metrics as well as improving current metrics and their associated instructions.
Work closely with part specific engineers to find and fix the root causes of part quality issues.
Analysis of process data and part specific quality data to target the purchase of new or upgraded equipment.
Partner with Purchasing, Facilities, and Accounting to develop the basic financial case for capital acquisitions.
Contribute applicable information and experience to the corporate Process Owner group regarding best practices in manufacturing techniques, control metrics, analysis approaches and new equipment specification.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Working knowledge of statistical analysis.
Strong Analytical abilities.
Project Management experience.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
0-3 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing industry.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in ceramic engineering from an accredited institution
Investment casting or ceramic slurry processing experience preferred.
Familiarity with statistical process control, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
Familiarity with the failure mechanics of sintered and un-sintered ceramic materials
Experience with ceramic slurry production and control
Prefer investment casting experience, ceramic process systems/materials processing experience, and familiarity with basic robotics programming.
