Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in LaPorte, Indiana is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in LaPorte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.

Job Summary

  • Support manufacturing through process control, continuous improvement initiatives, and maintenance.

  • Assume responsibility for the integrity of product processed through the Monoshell department.

  • Interact with internal and external customers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing problems through root cause analysis.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and improve process input and output performance metrics.

  • Achieve cost reduction through process improvements.

  • Develop and refine manufacturing work instructions.

  • Achieve cost targets for development and production castings.

Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitoring and responding to process metric trends.

  • Develop new control metrics as well as improving current metrics and their associated instructions.

  • Work closely with part specific engineers to find and fix the root causes of part quality issues.

  • Analysis of process data and part specific quality data to target the purchase of new or upgraded equipment.

  • Partner with Purchasing, Facilities, and Accounting to develop the basic financial case for capital acquisitions.

  • Contribute applicable information and experience to the corporate Process Owner group regarding best practices in manufacturing techniques, control metrics, analysis approaches and new equipment specification.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis.

  • Strong Analytical abilities.

  • Project Management experience.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.

  • 0-3 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in ceramic engineering from an accredited institution

  • Investment casting or ceramic slurry processing experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with statistical process control, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies

  • Familiarity with the failure mechanics of sintered and un-sintered ceramic materials

  • Experience with ceramic slurry production and control

  • Prefer investment casting experience, ceramic process systems/materials processing experience, and familiarity with basic robotics programming.
