The MA Supervisor operationally supports the Adult Medicine Pre-Visit program within the Community Center infrastructure. The MA Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations for 18 medical assistants in Adult Medicine Pre-Visit, which perform over 1,500 ancillary procedures per month, directly impacting HEDIS/STAR ratings.

The Adult Medicine Pre-Visit team is responsible for risk and quality initiatives for 40,000+ Medicare Advantage patients, in addition to targeted campaigns for 60,000 SMA empaneled Medicaid patients. The supervisor will be responsible for metric tracking, quality control audits, ensuring staff are meeting performance standards, staff scheduling, training and implementing HEDIS/STAR initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Staff scheduling

  • Mentoring

  • Owns output at task level

  • Work is generally limited to own function

  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion

  • Coordinates work activities with other supervisors

  • Develops plans to meet short-term objectives

  • Identifies and resolves operational problems using defined processes, expertise and judgment

  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan

  • Product, service or process decisions are most likely to impact individual employees and/or customers (internal or external)

  • Ensure staff accurately addresses all patient HEDIS/CORE measures

  • Perform procedures, schedule annual wellness and PCP appointments

  • Provide documentation according to protocol, meet performance expectations, and provide exemplary customer service

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant school or 3+ years of experience in the military as a Medical Assistant or equivalent

  • BLS Certification, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

  • 5+ years of experience as an MA in a clinic setting (Primary Care, Adult Medicine, Urgent Care, PEDS, OB, etc.)

  • 2+ years of lead / supervisory / management experience

  • You will be provisioned with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are required to perform this role with patients and members on site, as this is an essential function of this role

  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in healthcare or other related field

  • Experience with Medicare patients

  • Experience creating and implementing workflows and processes

  • Experience with preventative screening procedures
