Southwest Medical, part of OptumCare, is a multi-specialty group of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants consisting of over 300 providers, 21 medical health centers including six urgent care clinics, four convenient care centers, two lifestyle centers catering to older adults, an outpatient surgery center, home health, hospice, and palliative care services, plus E-visits and online options via Now Clinic telemedicine technology. As an Urgent Care RN you will provide and monitor quality patient care, in a critical care environment, utilizing the nursing process. Identifies, initiates, and assesses the effectiveness for known and potential problems and evaluates outcomes.

The Urgent Care RN is responsible for providing patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating and documentation of patient information to include vital signs, chief complaint, review of medications, allergies and interventions, including IV therapy and drug administration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient for exam, notes and documents responses to interventions and confers Provider

  • Anticipate provider needs for patient exam or treatments, such as set up for pelvic exam, or minor procedures as well as ensuring patient disrobes as appropriate. Ensure provider is assisted with in house procedures

  • Provides clinical intervention such as drug administration, treatments, IV Therapy, and procedures as ordered by provider

  • Initiates clinical follow through for patient care services, i.e., lab, x-ray, pharmacy, referral, and telephone communication

  • Delegates and assists co - workers with duties, to include but not limited to floating to other areas

  • Responsible for compliance requirements such as laboratory QC management, waive testing, maintenance of crash cart and narcotic count as well as other requirements dictated by clinic needs

  • Responsible for maintaining required licensure and certification

  • Hours and days varied shifts includes some weekends and holidays may be required to float to other Urgent Care sites to maintain staffing levels

Required Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted NV RN license or temporary NV RN license with the ability to obtain permanent NV RN license upon expiration of temporary NV RN license

  • BLS / ACLS

  • PALS (upon hire)

  • 2+ years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting (ER, MED / SURG, Critical Care, Urgent Care)

  • Excellent IV skills

  • Ability to read and interpret Cardiac Telemetry rhythms

  • Develop and implement plan of care based on assessment skills

  • Coordinate medical care with provider and appropriate team members

  • Multi - system assessment skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience charting in EMR

  • Demonstrates initiative towards problem solving

Nevada Residents Only: The hourly range for Nevada residents is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour.
