Position Summary/Purpose

Support the daily operations of the entire remanufacturing site to ensure reliability and consistency on the production lines. This position requires being a change agent and building a team atmosphere. In this position, the candidate will need to use influence to keep the shift aligned and working towards the same goals. The ability to work in a matrixed organization is critical to the success in this role. This position will be onsite and requires schedule flexibility on either 3rd or 2nd shift.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are achieved in support of Wabtec’s mission.

  • Scheduling the types of items to be produced daily.

  • Communicate safety, quality, and production plans across the shift.

  • Lead improvement project initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, lean manufacturing and cost reduction.

  • Responsible for solving problems, driving continuous improvement, mentoring team leaders and operators, and leveraging the plant staff/support team.

  • Lead growth of the workforce, identify training, tooling, fixturing and/or process improvements. Perform gap analysis and create improvement plans to achieve results.

  • Interact daily with hourly remanufacturing technicians, quality, materials, Lean, EHS, and support functions to increase time on product, reduce NCMRs/defects, and output.

  • Communicate progress, status, and issues to leadership.

  • Create and build a team culture driving accountability for all parties to own the outcome.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with 5 years of experience in manufacturing/machining).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Two years of experience supervising and developing large teams is a plus.

  • Heavy manufacturing assembly experience.

  • Strong Leadership skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S concepts.
