We have a dynamic and rewarding career opportunity for a 2nd Shift Welding Team Leader in Latham, NY. The Latham MR Magnets facility is a manufacturing and development site for Magnetic Resonance Imaging magnets and other superconducting products used in Philips Magnetic Resonance Imaging and other customers.
The Team Leader will work alongside and manage a defined work center within a larger production operation. Responsible for the overall safety of the work center, quality of the products produced within the work center, the effectiveness and efficiency of such work, as well as the timeliness of related deliverables. The Team Leader will promote a positive culture and engage in continuous improvement activities for the work center.
You are responsible for
Responsible for day-to-day operations including shift-to-shift hand off and assignment of work.
Work with the Group Leader to ensure time reporting is correct and approved for all team members, help schedule vacation and incidental time, OT, and planned/unplanned factory downtime.
Tracks deliverables, progression of skill training, and tool calibration in their assigned work center.
Updates and maintains daily management boards.
Actively reports out on issues i.e., part shortages, NCMRs, flow, etc.) to Area team members and works with support functions to problem solve.
Knowledgeable about work processes, ability and proficiency to apply direct labor when needed.
Leads by example. Will coach/ mentor/ train group. Handle personnel conflict resolution with support from Group Leader and Area Manager.
Help with group calibration/ write reviews/ review communication.
Fill-in on the production line when needed and also for the Group Leader as required.
Assist in area audits (Quality, EHS, 5S, etc.).
Works with PC and Quality to ensure documentation is available to complete work.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
Able to complete Direct labor alongside all others in the work area.
Computer proficiency (ShopVue, MS Office, SAP).
Interpersonal skills and an effective communicator, both written and oral, including public speaking. Able to guide and coach direct labor workforce.
Possesses a strong working knowledge of SC Magnet manufacturing processes, including those tasks outside the given area.
Strong knowledge of environmental, safety and quality regulations.
Enabler in cultural change and implementing lean methodologies.
Minimum 1 year experience in 4k welding work center
Company relocation benefits will not be provided for this position. Candidates need to live within the territory or within commuting distance to Latham, NY.
