The Principal Engineer at Fabrisonic is a technology and engineering leadership position that provides strategic technical guidance for the company, leads and manages other engineers performing research, development and manufacturing of machines, products and materials for ultrasonic additive manufacturing (UAM), and oversees the technological development of Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing. The Principal Engineer also oversees the employment, use, repair and maintenance of all UAM machines and other manufacturing and technical equipment.

Job Tasks

  1. Oversee all aspects of technology within the Company to achieve Company strategic goals and priorities.

  2. Provides strategic guidance to the CEO related to technological development and direction, applications of UAM, employee management and leadership, and business development.

  3. Represent the Company and provide technical guidance and expertise in business development and other customer meetings, at conferences, trade shows, and other venues.

  4. Lead, manage and motivate engineers and technicians overseeing projects assigned to them. Actively conduct and assist in UAM projects, as needed.

  5. Set priorities for R&D development of UAM materials, machines, and products to align with Company strategic goals.

  6. Oversee manufacturing activities and processes to ensure customer expectations are met, including providing direction for and supervising Quality Control and Quality assurance, and overseeing testing of materials, products, and machines.

  7. Manage R&D activities, collection of data, and effective maintenance of records to further the understanding of UAM and advance the Company's capabilities and direction.

  8. Manage the company's IP portfolio, and develop and submit patents to strengthen and protect the IP position of the Company.

  9. Proactively identify new directions, products, applications, and customers for UAM technology to further the company's business development and sales efforts.

  10. Accomplish other tasks and duties as required.

Skills

Technological expertise and engineering savvy.

Advanced knowledge of metals, additive manufacturing, and CNC machining

Small team leadership, management, and mentorship

High drive to achieve combed with humility and professionalism

Good problem solving and scientific experimentation skills and intuition

3D printing experience

CAD and CAM

Initiative

Superb time and task management

Excellent verbal and written communication

Requirements: PhD in materials science, mechanical engineering, or other relevant engineering field and 7+ years in industry; or masters degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, or other relevant engineering field and 10+ years in industry.

Status: Full time, 40 hours/week

Reports To: CEO

Oversees: Applications engineers and technicians

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $149,000.00 per year
