Tuscarora Intermediate Unit Communication Specialist-PT in Lewistown, Pennsylvania

TIU 11 invites applications for a part-time Communications Specialist to regularly post resources and updates to a WordPress website and create electronic and print materials that meet Section 508 Accessibility Guidelines. Communications Specialist for Community Education & Workforce Services shall be directly responsible to the CEWS Director and/or the assigned Manager for supervision and evaluation.

Fundamental Duties/Essential Functions 1. Provide assistance with communication technology needs to the Professional Development System (PDS) and staff of PDE Division of Adult Education. 2. Develop and maintain websites, ensuring that all resources follow graphic design and Section 508 accessibility principles. 3. Develop print and online newsletters, documents, and surveys, ensuring that all resources follow graphic design and Section 508 accessibility principles. 4. Edit (if needed) and post videos to YouTube or other online platforms, ensuring that they are posted with closed captions. 5. Compile and analyze website and newsletter data 6. Maintain contact lists of adult education providers. 7. Send emails using email marketing software. 8. Moderate PDS webinars and provide technical assistance. 9. Secure appropriate approvals, copyrights, and use rights as needed. 10. Lift, move, carry and otherwise transport supplies and office equipment within office and to meeting locations. 11. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess these skills, knowledge and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Ability to orally communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English with others in all levels of group and individual contacts. 2. Detail-oriented with proofreading and time management skills. 3. Proficiency in application software for page layout, web design, word processing, and data management, email marketing and webinars. 4. Ability to apply concepts and information acquired from meetings, conferences or related literature to accomplish project goals. 5. Ability to develop materials that follow graphic design and Section 508 principles. 6. Ability to present oneself in a professional manner to include personal appearance and pleasant demeanor to others. 8. Ability to provide personal, reliable vehicle for own travel requirements. 9. Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as necessary. 10. Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 40 lbs.

Qualification Standards 1. Education: possess an associate degree in website design or related field. 2. Experience: Demonstrated organizational, communications, and technology skills. Prior experience with web design required; prior experience with WordPress preferred.
