Actalent Civil Engineering Manager in Lincoln, Nebraska

Actalent is representing a civil engineering firm that specializes in land development, site design, and stormwater management in Lincoln, Nebraska looking to add a Sr. Civil Engineer/Project Manager to their team!

The Sr. Engineer will play an integral role in successful management and completion of existing projects, as well as leveraging their knowledge and expertise in identifying opportunities for new project work in the greater Lincoln, Omaha and eastern Nebraska region. The Sr. Engineer will participate in sales/proposal presentations to clients in both the private and public sector including state, county and municipal agencies. Through active project involvement, the Sr. Engineer will assist in mentoring, coaching and training staff to ensure continuous development of bench strength within the team. Strong interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication abilities are essential. The ability to earn trust and respect and persuade and guide people to solutions that best meet the client needs and the firm’s business objectives, are essential to success as Sr. Engineer.

Responsibilities:

This position is viewed as an active engineering role involving planning, design, construction administration, oversight, management, and direct involvement in the following areas:

Project Engineering

  • Planning and technical analysis

  • Technical writing

  • Design and construction documents using Autocad Civil3D.

  • Opinions of probable construction cost

  • Construction administration

Project Management

  • Project budgeting, review, and contract proposals

  • Project correspondence and client relationship

  • Monitor and review of budgets and invoicing

  • Scheduling and assignment of resources

  • Quality assurance/quality control on project

Business Development

  • Client relationship development

  • Marketing and targeting potential clientele

  • Sales and proposal development

  • Cross-selling and collaboration with other work groups

Leadership

  • Continue to develop leadership skills and traits

  • Think and act strategically with the firm’s values and goals in mind

  • Develop and monitor staff of all levels

  • Collaborate and coordinate with company leaders and peers

Qualifications:

P.E. designation, Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience with demonstrated growth in responsibilities and successful performance results.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

The successful candidate will have current, established experience and knowledge of the marketplace, the client environment and the local culture related to consulting engineering services. Beyond the requisite technical skills and credentials, the candidate must also possess strong listening, learning and critical thinking skills, coupled with solid written, verbal and platform skills to ensure high-quality communication with clients, colleagues, and staff. The ability to coordinate the efforts of others, transfer knowledge through instruction, negotiate and persuade are essential in this role. The nature of this job demands a strong orientation to delivering excellent client service balanced with responsible application of firm resources.
