Position Overview

Navistar's Procurement Team has an immediate need for a Category Manager – Stampings, Fuel Tanks and Air Tanks. The Category Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with the category team and engineering on new product development programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for the assigned category to align with Navistar’s business objectives

• Research industry trends, global markets, benchmark data, understand cost drivers and emerging technologies

• Lead a cross functional team of sourcing specialists, forward sourcing managers, supply chain, finance and program managers to implement strategic initiatives

• Lead strategic sourcing decisions for both new product launches as well as current business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities

• Identify and develop new cost reduction opportunities using variety of procurement levers

• Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met. Build and manage relationships with cross functional team members and management

• Facilitate communications between external suppliers and various internal departments to resolve queries or issues

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree

• At least 8 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

• 1 year lead experience

OR

• Master's degree

• At least 6 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

• 1 year lead experience

OR

• At least 10 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

• 1 year lead experience

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to distill complex tasks into easy to understand priorities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various situations and audiences as needed

• Ability to function and work with cross-functional teams and prioritize competing interests

• MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams

• Ability to travel 20-30%

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Automotive, Heavy Truck or Heavy Equipment Manufacturing industries

• Experience in procurement, manufacturing or engineering of sheet metal stampings or fabrications
