Responsibilities

  • Reduces broad concepts and business strategies into structured roadmaps

  • Manages R&I portfolio with group partners

  • Portfolio governance: Decision preparation and chairing meetings

  • Implement North American needs in global funding process

  • Manage R&I projects

  • Technology and business opportunity scouting

    The Job

  • Enable research work through creating and planning of research roadmaps based on Navistar’s strategic targets and long-term goals.

  • Create a holistic overview of future business models and technology solutions to properly prioritize Research and Innovation activities​

  • Manage research roadmaps with TRATON partners and ensure group research roadmaps align with Navistar planning.

  • Evaluate and prioritize needs and ideas with respect to their strategic fit and business impact and identify cross brand synergies.

  • Address long term competence needs given the changing technology/business landscape

  • Represent Navistar in the TRATON R&I governance.

  • Business coaching for new ideas together with product planning

  • Support Process development in the R&I area

    Deliverables for this role include:

  • Research and Innovation Roadmaps

  • Research and Innovation Budget Plan

  • Project plans for research and innovation projects

  • TRATON R&I roadmaps aligned with Navistar’s strategic targets.

  • TRATON R&I governance representatio

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 10 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 4 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 4 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

  • At least 4 years of experience managing technical professionals and technical staff in engineering and design activities

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Intercultural competence and assertiveness in an international environment.

  • Preferably leadership experience from several product development projects

  • Ideally worked in emerging technologies

  • Experience with Pre development, R&I

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of tailoring message to audience

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and change

  • Ability to build consensus with relevant stakeholders

  • Ability to communicate and present complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Exceptional analytical problem solving skills
